You are in charge of your friend’s shower and you want to make them happy so that they KNOW how much you love them. Right? And you want to host something unique, not the same ol’ luncheon buffet in the dining room. (Although this is often done very well.) Here are three idea igniters to set you down the path to pulling it off.
A FUN LOCATION
Take it out of the house, out of the restaurant, off of the patio. Instead, arrange pick-up or catering from their favorite local restaurant and then head for the hills, or the lake, or their favorite viewpoint of the city. There is something we love about sharing a meal outside or in an unusual place. A drive-in theater tailgate party, perhaps? Just remember to check for any required permits and by all means clean up after yourselves. And one more hint, your friend has likely collected a list of wedding/event vendors that can help you by delivering to your remote location. Start there.

A MEANINGFUL CAUSE
Nothing is more bonding for friends than serving together. Set up a lovely breakfast for your guests and the staff at an animal sanctuary, food bank or other volunteer location. Then roll up your sleeves and get to work. This is great way to get together to celebrate the bride/groom that hates being the center of attention. Also, look for small opportunities to serve a good cause. For example, in respect to our planet, have guests skip the wrapping paper and then set up a display of gifts. (BTW this also means skipping the bore of watching things being unwrapped. Bonus!). Better yet, for a couple that has house set up already, fund-raise for their favorite cause in lieu of gifts. Host a get together + do something nice… you get the idea. And everyone will feel good, having participated.

A NON-TRADITIONAL TWIST INSIDE A MORE TRADITIONAL SHOWER
Maybe all it takes to host a non-traditional shower is just a little something different. Instead of tea in the teacups, why not serve soup or fruit smoothies? Y encourage your guests to bring their dogs to the shower, since they cannot bring them to the wedding. (How fun it would be to have a treat and watering station!) Think about anything your friend loves and then weave it into the party. Individual attention is what really makes it a non-traditional bridal shower. Voila! They will be so happy that you hosted this milestone event for them.
