Time together may have been under appreciated before. But never again, right?! Today’s couples are doubling down on this aspect in their wedding planning.
Traditionally we think of wedding celebrations as a celebration of love (so syrupy) and of the two people at the center of it all. Still true! But here’s the thing, there will likely be no other opportunity to enjoy your closest friends and family together, in one place at one time. It’s an opportunity to witness your childhood friend laughing with one of your favorite coworkers. Your parents or mentors are together, maybe for the first time, sharing their enthusiasm and love for you. You will realize, in the swirl of activity leading up to the event that everyone arriving on the scene is anxious to spend time together. Weddings (and funerals unfortunately) are often the only reunions some families ever have.
IDEAS TO FACILITATE TIME TOGETHER AROUND YOUR WEDDING:

PLAN FOR EXTRA ACTIVITIES BEFORE THE BIG DAY
On your wedding website, you may already be listing fun things for your guests to do and see. Why not set up a meet up time for one or two activities to facilitate connections? It’s not an obligation, but for those that want to make the most of their visit, they will appreciate not having to organize themselves. Consider this, even if yours is not a destination wedding. Locals often neglect what their own area offers and this is a great time to go see!

SHOW UP FOR THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE
How wonderful would it be for the two of you to actually participate in one or two of the afore mentioned activities? One word here- delegate! Hire a trustworthy wedding planner or coordinator to handle all the last minute things. If you’re not a list person, find someone that is. And then make sure you have the space to participate in time together with your guests, before the aisle runner is in place.

DON’T FORGET THE DETAILS (You knew I would bring this up!)
You have been dreaming of and implementing details for your reception for months, maybe years. And your pin boards may be full of unused ideas that would be perfect for the rehearsal dinner and the day-after brunch. A beautiful table at your rehearsal dinner sets the mood and the level of pampering your most cherished people can expect. And a beautiful day-after brunch is the perfect way to wrap everything up with a great big thank you to those that traveled and made space in their calendars to be there for you.

Your wedding may be at the top of everyone’s list when they reflect on their best memories of time together…
