You have probably saved some pins. Perhaps you’ve purchased some sort of favor. And perhaps you have your eye on some rentals. But how do you insure that everything comes together for a beautifully designed reception? BE SPECIFIC.
The more specific you are describing your vision, the more confident you will be and the more confident your team will be in executing it.
Instead of “I just want my tables to be really pretty.” Try “I want my guests to approach their seat and have their phones out taking photos before they even sit down, because what they see just HAS to be shared.” Now your table design is a mission with a specific end goal.
(By the way, the table tops that really excite guests are a blend of beautiful design AND personal, unique touches.)
And sure, it’s important that everything that is going on the tables is delivered to the venue. But take it a step further. “I’d like a dedicated person to make sure each place setting is absolutely perfect, including how the flatware is aligned with the table edge.” It’s like assigning a commander for the mission you’ve established.

Finally, rather than concentrating on how your guest will be herded from one scene or course to the next, talk to your event planner and your caterer about how you want your guests to feel. Specifying that your guests should feel pampered, or should feel like they are at a casual family gathering will help make smaller decisions, not only about what is on the table, but what is on the menu, what is in the room, lighting , music, all of it.

I’d love to be the commander for your mission.
